The Swine Flu pandemic is spreading across America and the world at alarming rates. People are asking: how can I treat swine flu? how can I avoid swine flu? how long does swine flu last? Doctor and hospital visits are on the rise and people are really starting to live in a state of fear. Avoiding H1N1 virus and treating this illness are becoming very important topics these days. So you may be asking how can I treat swine flu? Well there are some simple steps you should take to get better:

Go see a doctor. Your doctor may prescribe a medication such as Tamiflu.

If no medicine is prescribed you may need to take acetaminophen or Ibuprofen to control a fever (ask a doctor first).

Influenza infection can lead to a bacterial infection so antibiotics may be needed.

Over the counter cold and flu medications may help reduce the severity of the symptoms.

Get plenty of rest. A lack of sleep will contribute to a weaker immune system which in turn could keep you sick longer.

Eat right. Layoff the junk food during this time. Try to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. It can be very difficult to eat during this time, but if you have a juicer at home you can juice your fruit and vegetables into a very healthy yet palatable drink that is full of antioxidants and disease fighting nutrients.

Drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated is very important during this time.

Staying in your house while you have the illness will help to prevent you from spreading the virus. You’ll also want to wash your hands frequently to avoid spreading to those in your house. It’s a good idea to carry hand sanitizer around with you just in case you need it. Also wipe down surfaces in your house that you may have come into close contact with while you have the flu.

Swine flu is very contagious and symptoms can arise very quickly so make sure you call your doctor at the first signs of flu like symptoms. I hope this helps your question as to how can I treat swine flu? So you may be asking how can I avoid swine flu? Well here are some tips:

Get vaccinated. There is a great deal of debate over this topic and I am also very conflicted as well when it comes to vaccine safety so you’ll just have to weigh the risks to see if a vaccine is right for you and your loved ones.

Wash your hands frequently to kill germs.

Carry around travel size hand sanitizer with you and use it liberally. Use it after touching things out in the public such as doors, faucets, shopping carts, etc…

Eat healthy to maintain a strong immune system.

Get plenty of rest to maintain a strong immune system.

If you live with someone or provide care for someone with the swine flu, wearing a mask or respirator is a good idea for swine flu prevention. It may be wise for the infected person to wear one as well.

Hope these tips help for your question: how can I avoid swine flu? Avoiding H1N1 virus can be easy to do by taking some precautionary steps and being smart by watching what you do, eat and touch. It can be especially difficult to avoid the swine flu if you are caring for someone who cannot care for themselves such as a small child or an elderly person. Just be extra cautious.

So how long does swine flu last? It seems like many cases are lasting for about a week with the first three or four days being the worst then progressively getting better after. For some this flu could linger on longer and some shorter depending on immune system strength, age and disorders. Avoiding H1N1 virus can happen for you and your family, but if you do get it just take some simple yet smart steps to recovery.

To learn how you can protect yourself and your family from the swine flu pandemic I suggest checking out this website as well: www.survivingpandemicflu.com. It provides some very valuable information about how to protect yourself and how the current virus is showing similarities to the 1918 swine flu virus that took the lives of 100 million people.

The question whether the Swine Flu (H1N1 Virus) is a pandemic or just an overly inflated media story is one that confuses many people, including myself. Questions like is swine flu deadly, is swine flu curable, will swine flu mutate, will swine flu get worse, and is swine flu worse than the regular flu are questions we all have.

I must admit I am at least a bit concerned about the potential of a world wide outbreak, but sometimes I wonder if it is just another story that the media likes to blow out of proportion. Yet the concern still remains. After all if you’re an American citizen under the age of 41 you have never experienced a pandemic. I myself am 31 years old and I have no clue of what it feels like to live amongst a societal pandemic. I am very thankful that I have not lived in such a state of fear. But now things are a bit different. I’m married, I have a 3 year old son at home and my wife and I are expecting a new child in December, so yeah I am concerned.

I do start asking myself those questions: is swine flu deadly, is swine flu curable, will swine flu mutate, will swine flu get worse, and is swine flu worse than the regular flu? These are questions that are often thought about. Some of those questions can keep you up at night. For those of you who are also at least a little concerned or extremely concerned about the damaging potential the swine flu could have on our lives I suggest you check out this resource attached below. It’s a very good resource that goes in depth about the history of the swine flu and the measure that we should be taking to prevent it from affecting us. I pray that my family does not contract this potentially terrible virus.
